How To Convert Your Social Followers Into Paying Clients
This article was written by Natalia Crawford, Business & Online Marketing Coach:
Most entrepreneurs want the following things:
More clients and more money in their business.
The problem is that the way most entrepreneurs tend to go about it doesn’t actually work. What happens is that in our minds we think reverse that to be:
More money is obtained by more clients which is obtained by more followers.
As a Business & Online Marketing coach, that’s the number one request I hear. People want me to teach them how to get more followers. When I do the digging I discover it’s because they want more clients and more sales. However, what I have found is that the majority of people do not need more followers in order to make sales.
Let me explain.
I want you to take a moment to think about how many clients you want in your business right now.
Is it 3? 5? Maybe 7?
Now, I want you to think about the number of followers you have on your social media platforms right now.
Is it 20? 50? 100? Maybe even 500?
Chances are the number of followers you already have is greater than the number of clients you need. Therefore, it’s safe to say you could get the clients you need right now.
What I have discovered is that most people don’t need more followers, what they need instead is the following:
1. A process
When it comes to converting followers into sales you need to have a process in place for how to do that. How do followers go from point A to point B? How do you get them to convert? How to do you get them from social to your landing page? Look at what you have in place and if you don’t have one already, create a process to convert them.
Believe it or not many online businesses are hanging out online without any offerings! If you don’t have anything to sell then there is no way you are going to make money. Come up with a few ways to meet your clients needs at different stages and price points and turn them into offerings, then you’ll have ways to make money.
Confusion = lack of sales. If you don’t have clarity around why you exist and who you serve then sales are going to be really hard to do. If you’re confused, then your followers are too. When you provide simplicity and clarity people will know exactly how to buy from, what to buy from you and who they need to be to work with you.
Too many business never bother to ask for the sale, or as I like to call it “make the invitation”. As a business it’s your responsibility to invite people to work with you. On a recent call with my mastermind group I was working with them on their sales mindset and used the following analogy: if you walked into a restaurant or a store and no one approached you or offered you anything what would you think? You’d be offended and leave, right? Why? Because you are expecting them to offer you something. You entered that space expecting to be sold to. In the same way, when someone chooses to follow you they are expecting good customer service by having you offer them help or assistance. They know you are a business, so they are waiting for the invitation.
One too many times I see online entrepreneurs post something once, not get a sale, then never talk about it again. If you want to make sales you need to be consistent and show up time and time again. Give value consistently and invite consistently, then you’ll make the sale.
The biggest takeaway I want you to get from this article is the fact that you need a process. Without a process in place, it doesn’t matter how many followers you have if you don’t know how to convert them. If you have followers but don’t have clients, instead of trying to focus on getting more followers focus on how you can convert the ones you already have. Then, once you have a solid process in place, you’ll be able to scale your followers AND your business!
